GB2RS Newsreaders NoV

This page allows you to apply for a variation of amateur radio licence (Full or Intermediate only) for the purpose of authorizing the licensee to identify the station using the call sign GB2RS, and to broadcast news bulletins supplied to the licensee by, or on behalf of, the RSGB

NoV application

Before starting your application make sure you have the following details to hand.

  • Your address and postcode

  • Your callsign

  • Your amateur radio licence number

Before starting your application make sure you read the important notes on station call sign check, regional secondary locator placeholders, and data protection below.

IMPORTANT NOTE – Station call sign check

You should have been directed to this page by the GB2RS Manager after being approved as a newsreader. The GB2RS Manager will have added your call sign to the approved newsreaders database. To confirm this is the case, your call sign will be checked against the database before you’re granted access to the NoV application form.

IMPORTANT NOTE – Regional secondary locator placeholders

In your licence document your callsign may contain the # (hash) symbol as a placeholder for a regional secondary locator. Please do not try to enter the hash symbol in our NoV application forms as the system does not accept this character. Instead please either remove the hash symbol or substitute the appropriate regional secondary locator in accordance with Section 2 item 2(2) and 2(3) of the Amateur radio licence terms, conditions and limitations (PDF)

IMPORTANT NOTE – Data protection

By submitting your application you consent to RSGB collecting and storing your data from this application form solely for the purpose of issuing and administering the GB2RS Newsreaders NoV and sharing this data with Ofcom if requested to do so.
