British Science Week

British Science Week (BSW), run by the British Science Association, is an annual event celebrating science, technology, engineering and maths. It provides a platform to support teachers, STEM professionals and the public in delivering STEM activities and events across the UK.

BSW 2025

We’re already looking forward to next March’s British Science Week, which has the theme, ‘Change and adapt’. This lends itself perfectly to amateur radio in the 21st century.

We’re calling for ideas of wireless communications activities which we could submit to national BSW packs to show how relevant amateur radio is to the STEM curriculum and how much fun it is for anyone to get involved!

If you have an idea for an activity which could be used in schools and community settings, we’d love to hear from you. Ideas could cover any area from construction to propagation, from making QSOs under supervision, to space and satellites.

Please send your ideas to the RSGB British Science Week Coordinator, Ian Neal, M0KEO at bsw@rsgb.org.uk

And don’t forget, our Time-related challenge is running until 1 September. It is open to all age groups and there are prizes to be won!
