Morse

How is Morse (also referred to as CW) relevant to me as a radio amateur?

  • Morse is particularly valuable when conditions are poor, power is limited, or antennas are modest, for example when you are portable including SOTA and POTA

  • It is a technical skill to learn. It rewards patience, sharpens listening skills, and allows meaningful communication with minimal resources

  • Morse code is remarkably flexible and resilient, even with very simple, inexpensive equipment

  • It is a great way to introduce people to amateur radio – people of all ages enjoy learning about Morse and it’s a brilliant outreach activity for public events
