The museum is located in the building that housed the world’s first operational radar station at the mouth of the River Deben in Suffolk. From 1936 the technical development was conducted in the adjacent manor building by a team of scientists and engineers with the help, from 1938 onwards, of the RSGB Amateur Radio Handbook. The resulting development enabled success in the Battle of Britain.
