British Young Ladies AR Association
The British Young Ladies Amateur Radio Association (BYLARA) was founded in April 1979 to further YL operating in Britain and so promote friendship, stimulate interest and, in particular, encourage good operating techniques and courtesy to all operators at all times.
BYLARA is affiliated to the RSGB and membership is open to all. Since its formation, BYLARA has been instrumental in establishing several YL activities which include:-
- Get-togethers are organised at various Rallies throughout the country. In April 2014 Val, G6MML, & Elaine, 2E1BVS, won the Club Stand Trophy at Norbreck Rally with their display of club activities.
- A quarterly Newsletter. All news and views will be welcomed by the Editor.
- The BYLARA Award and Scottish BYLARA Award, are available for working BYLARA Members and other Yls.
- Activity days are the 6th of every month. Call CQ YL on the hour on frequencies ending in 88
- Wednesday 40m nets on 7.175 +/- QRM run by Jenni, M0HZT, The nets run from 07.00 – 0900, 11.00 – 13.00 and 20.00 – 2200, using callsign M0BYL
- Activations of lighthouses in Shetland and Fair Isle as well a dxpeditions to the Falklands and Svalbard
- Our Chairman attends as many events as possible during the year. So she would be interested to hear from any Club that would like to offer BYLARA a table at their Event or Rally.
- We support RNLI and Portland Coastal Watch Station during the year. Raising funds and making people aware of the work they do.
