Bert van den Berg, PA3GIO – 5 December 2025
With the greatest sadness we have to announce that Bert, PA3GIO, suddenly passed away on 5 December 2025.
Bert was a prolific traveller and DXpeditioner, operating many DXpeditions solo with his XYL from 1993 to 2007. He received the IOTA Merit Award in 2002 for his excellent contribution to the IOTA community as wel as the DXpeditioner of the Year Award 2005 from the Southwest OHIO DX Association.
We want to thank each and every amateur radio operator that helped make Bert’s experience on the air such a special one. Bert will be missed immensely by his family, but knowing he has such a legacy helps us to feel that he lives on in some way. We will keep his website alive as a record of his time on the air.
