Members of Poldhu Amateur Radio Club mourn the loss of its Secretary, Keith Matthew, G0WYS, who passed away on the afternoon of Monday the 30th of March 2020 at the age of 78.

After several decades of extensive service, support and commitment to the club, following a short post-operative illness Keith Matthew became a Silent Key while at the Royal Cornwall Hospital, Treliske in Cornwall.

“Our club has lost a man whose knowledge of the life and antics of Guglielmo Marconi brought the world of radio communications from history-books into reality,” explained club Chairman Cliff Malcolm, G3UYN. “As a physicist with a hands-on approach to teaching, Keith built many items of gear for the class and club.”

Hosting a club of over 100 members, as a tutor Keith Matthew nurtured many beginners up through the ranks to gain their Advanced Licence. Club meetings are held at the National Trust’s Marconi Centre at Poldhu near Mullion in Cornwall.

Keith Matthew leaves his wife Vicki, daughter Tamzin and son Kieran.
