Peter Robinson, G8MSQ, 2016

| June 23, 2016

It is with great sadness that we learn that our Vice President of the Worthing and District Amateur Radio Club has passed on, having born his illness with great fortitude over the past few years.

Peter was one of the first members of the club, having been instrumental in It’s formation in 1947 at Oliver’s Cafe in Worthing. That is also where I met him for the first time.

He had an interesting career as a radio and television engineer before and after service in the RAF, where he told me that AR88s were his speciality.

During his time with the club, he was Chairman, a very long serving Secretary and also editor of our magazine, RAGCHEW. Another string to his bow was that over the past few years he was a standby GB2RS News Reader, latterly taking over as primary news reader on the passing of Chris, G3NDJ.

Peter was always a very approachable person with a truly encyclepedic knowledge of the Club, its origins and members. He was very ably assisted by his partner Francis, to whom we convey our sincerest condolences.

Peter will be greatly missed. RIP.

Worthing and District Amateur Radio Club  President
