David Ian Spooner, G8CVZ, 5 September 2014

| November 10, 2014

David Ian Spooner, G8CVZ, died on 5th September 2014 at the age of 63.

Dave was enthusiastic about amateur radio since his teenage years. He was a chartered electrical engineer and worked in the aircraft simulator industry until he developed bowel cancer in 2010. He took early retirement and had been active on the air since then. He loved speaking to other radio enthusiasts from around the world and collecting their callsigns. While the radio technicalities baffled his family, he would always tell us about the people he’d spoken to and the satellites he could track from their radio signals.

Dave’s health deteriorated in the last year, but even when he was unable to speak he enjoyed listening to the happenings on the radio waves.

Dave lived a full and active life and always had a hobby or project on the go. He is survived by his wife Lynne and his daughters Emily and Laura. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.
