| December 9, 2013

Mr Royston Hunt, M3HHR passed away peacefully on 27 November 2013 at St Giles Nursing Home, Lichfield.

Roy was a TV service engineer from the age of 17, coming through the trade in the 405 line days. He became interested in hi-fi over the years and built various amplifiers plus short wave equipment. He built an electronic organ over a period of five years and from there turned to digital keyboards.

Always a short wave listener, Royston built various bits of receiving equipment, antennas and preamps. He became interested in software defined radio and built a SoftRock 40 receiver.

He was active on the air with a Yaesu FT-897 on 2m and HF, using a homebrew ATU followed by a half size G5RV plus 80m traps. He was a very loyal and friendly club member who will be greatly missed.

Tribute by Rob Bird,
