ESRG February 2024 key messages

| March 5, 2024

The Exams and Syllabus Review Group (ESRG) met four times during February. It has released these key messages from those meetings:

  • We discussed a number of challenges. Two were upheld and the candidates notified
  • Johnathan Groves, M0VRI resigned from the ESRG, due to work commitments. We thank him for his time on the ESRG
  • We continued to review the EMF document from the EMF group and accepted more recommendations
  • We discussed whether we needed further EMF questions but decided we have enough for now
  • We welcomed a potential new member as a guest
  • The ESRG Chair emailed the Tutors’ forum describing what the ESRG does and asked for some volunteers to come to our meetings
  • It was agreed that Alan Betts and the ESRG will monitor the Tutors’ forum and respond to the tutors’ concerns, as a collective. It is important to note that some ESRG members are tutors as well
  • We looked at some proposed new questions for the bank to cover the new licensing conditions
  • We fine-tuned Syllabus 1.6 ready to publish in March
  • Reviewed Advanced and D2F Mock papers for the RSGB website
  • We looked at some proposed new questions for the bank to cover the new licensing conditions
  • We considered the January exam statistics and, overall, the success rate was very good
  • Started planning our in-person meeting
