QSL guidance

A special event is a unique opportunity to design a memorable QSL card which will find its way into treasured collections around the world.

Special Event Stations (SES) often generate high interest and large volumes of QSL requests. Agree your QSL policy during the SES planning stage.

Choosing your QSL method

If you do not wish to handle paper cards, confirm contacts electronically using:

• Logbook of The World (LoTW)
• eQSL
• QRZ

If offering paper QSL cards, clearly state your QSL route on your QRZ.com page. This will avoid unwanted QSL cards entering the system and unwanted e-QSL e-mails etc.

The OQRS (Online QSL Request System) operated by Clublog allows stations to request QSL cards without sending a card first and is recommended for high-volume events.

Sending SES QSL cards

For large quantities, consider:

• Using the DARC Direct Print service (available later this year), or
• Sending cards directly to the DARC QSL Bureau

If sending via the RSGB QSL Bureau, ensure cards comply fully with the published card specifications.

Receiving SES QSL cards

Provide stamped self-addressed C5 envelopes to the GB QSL sub-manager as soon as you receive your NoV.

Print the special event call sign and event dates in the top left corner of each envelope and include a copy of the NoV.

Radio amateurs who do not wish to collect cards should notify the QSL Bureau.
