Permanent Special Event Stations

The permanent special event callsign GB2BP operates from the world-famous Bletchley Park complex.
What are Permanent Special Event Stations?
A permanent special event station (PSES) is one that is usually set up at a fixed venue or recurring event and because of that is given a callsign of its own that always stays the same.
Many of these permanent special event stations are set up in museums or other historical sights of amateur radio interest which can be visited.
If you visit any of these places of interest, it may be useful to take your licence validation document with you, as you may be allowed to operate the station during your visit.
To avoid disappointment check with the station operators beforehand to see if it is possible to operate from the station on the day of your visit.
Applying for your own Permanent Special Event Station
If you want to set up your own permanent special event station, all applications have to be made to Ofcom, the UK communications regulator. You will need to enclose proof that your station is on show to the general public throughout the year, and details of the club station callsign.
Find out more on the Ofcom website.
