Meet international member – Günter, DJ2XB
Meet Günter, DJ2XB / M0DXM (Germany)
How long have you been licensed?
I received my licence in 1955, I was 19 years old then. It was a difficult time just ten years after WWII and the only way to take part in amateur radio was DIY.
And how long have you been a member of the RSGB?
I became a member of RSGB in July 2005. From 2008 to 2023 I was a GB2RS newsreader.
What would you say is the best thing about RSGB membership?
There are many things I enjoy as a member of the RSGB but most important for me nowadays is the warm friendship I experience.
Have you used the RSGB app to view RadCom?
I prefer reading the paper edition of RadCom. If I was younger, I would certainly consider the more modern media.
What would you say to someone considering whether to join the RSGB?
If you are interested in becoming a member of a large international community, I would recommend to join the Society. I have never regretted it.
Which is your favourite mode?
My preferred mode nowadays is SSB on 40 and 80m. I did a lot of DX on 2m, 15m and 20m, but that’s a long time ago now!
