Two RSGB Board changes

| July 27, 2020

Professor Phillip Willis, M0PHI

Phillip Willis, M0PHI has decided recently to stand down as a Board Director for personal reasons. Philip was a Nominated Director until April 2020 when he was co-opted to join the Board for a further period to continue his work with the Spectrum Forum and to assume a new responsibility for the Regional Team. Before joining the Board in 2017, Philip had Chaired the Training and Education Committee (TEC) for some years.

Philip was co-Director for the Representation Team and provided support to dialogues with external strategic partner organisations, including Ofcom and the IARU.

During his time on the Board, Philip oversaw the RSGB strategic priority of ‘Organisation’. To increase the sharing of expertise, he developed, implemented and supported the change of the Society’s structure into a more focused ‘Delivery team’ approach. The Board would like to thank him for his work as a Board Director.

Mike Bruce, M0ITI

Mike Bruce, M0ITI recently resigned from the Board following a period working with the Examinations Standards Committee (ESC) and the Examinations Syllabus Review Group (ESRG). Previously he held the role of Examinations Systems Review Manager, researching potential changes to the examinations systems platforms. Mike joined the examinations team as a member of the Examinations Group in 2016 where he brought his expertise to both the detailed work of updating the syllabus and, more especially, the creation of a flexible and efficient platform for updating and publishing syllabus editorial changes.

Mike was co-Director for the Learning Team, which recently has been extremely successful in leading the team’s strategic priority of ‘Growth’. Membership is running at a record level and the number of exams being taken is beyond all estimates.

The Board would like to thank Mike for his work on the Board and is delighted that he is going to continue to work within the examination teams.
