Steve Hartley, G0FUW, steps down as Legacy Commitee Chair

| May 1, 2020

Following the announcements made during the AGM on 25 April, I should like to record the Board’s sincere thanks to Steve Hartley, G0FUW who is stepping down as Legacy Committee Chair. Steve is a previous Board Member, Board Chair and the driving force behind the RSGB Strategy 2022. He assumed responsibility for chairing the Legacy sub-Committee of the Board three years ago. Steve has ensured that the Committee carefully deliberated the merits of bids made for legacy support and presented the Committee’s recommendations to the Board in a timely fashion. The annual reports of the Committee bear testament to the efficiency of the Committee’s operation under his guidance.

It is difficult to pass this opportunity of publicly thanking Steve without mention of his many other valuable contributions made to the Society over many years. Steve has been: a Board Director and the Board Chair; the Strategy 2022 Project Manager; the YOTA 2017 Project Manager; RSGB delegate to the RCF Trustee Board; TEC Chair; a local exam secretary and tutor; an author of training books; the instigator and lead of the Bath Distance Learning Course for the Full licence exam…and the list goes on. It is hoped that Steve will find time to continue with at least some of these activities in the future.

Ian Shepherd, G4EVK
Board Chair
