American amateurs will have to continue renewing their licenses on a regular basis, after a petition for ‘lifetime’ licenses was denied. Last November Mark Krotz, N7MK, requested a change of the rules and the decision was announced on 21 June.
The VP8STI DXpedition video has been uploaded to the Intrepid DX Group’s Vimeo page. Mike McGirr, K9AJ was an operator and the team doctor on the DXpedition to South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands earlier this year and he will be speaking about the DXpedition at this year’s RSGB Convention in October—see www.rsgb.org/convention for more details.
