Weather balloon to go up Sunday

| September 11, 2015

A weather balloon is being launched Sunday, the 13th, in the Netherlands carrying an amateur radio transponder.

The 37th annual balloon foxhunt will then be on and an estimated thousand or more amateurs will set out on an electronic chase of this flying fox.

The signals will be on 2, at 200mW and an ATY signal on 13cm at 1 watt.

It is expected to have coverage in France, Germany, Belgium, the UK and, of course, the Netherlands.

A special event station will broadcast on 40m exchanging reception reports, balloon data and engaging in QSOs in support of the event.
