The CQ World Wide DX CW contest ends at 2359 today, 24 November, having run for 48 hours. It invariably keeps the CW portions of the HF bands really busy. In this contest there are always a number of DXpeditions to rarely activated countries, so even if you are not making a serious entry into the contest it’s a good event to be active in if you are working towards DXCC. Using the 1.8 to 28MHz bands the exchange is signal report and CQ Zone, which for the UK is 14.

On Tuesday the 50MHz UK Activity Contest takes place from 2000 to 2230UTC using all modes on the band. The exchange is signal report, serial number and locator.

Also on Tuesday the SHF UK Activity Contest takes place from 2000 to 2230UTC, Using all modes on the 2.3 to 10GHz bands the exchange is signal report, serial number and locator.

The 80m Club Sprint takes place on Thursday the 28th from 2000 to 2100UTC. Using CW only, the exchange is serial number and name.

To promote activity on 6m during the winter, the UK Six Metre Group has just introduced a new event to compliment their Summer E’s Contest. Called the Winter Marathon, it will be held over a two-month period, commencing on 1 December 2013 and ending on 31 January 2014. It’s a 100 percent Locator square chase, with no points for individual QSOs, but as well as normal QSOs you can claim the squares worked in other 6m contests over the period. Using all modes on the band the exchange is signal report and locator.
