Greetings from South Africa

| May 5, 2020

I write this email to you today having just seen your “Get on the air to care” campaign which you have launched.

As I represent 50 registered volunteers consisting of radio amateurs and no amateurs I would like to congratulate you on what you intend to accomplish with this campaign and wanted to share this news with you.

As an amateur myself, I launched a campaign on the 27 March 2020 when South Africa first entered its lockdown phase – I have rebroadcast the W.H.O. regular news briefings on our local repeater every Monday, Wednesday and Friday with the intention of sharing the official information with our interested amateurs.

As part of our news as an independent group of volunteers it is great to share the following statistics to date.

In the past six weeks we have held seven regular weekly nets, 20 W.H.O. News briefings, five Presidential briefings via the local 2m repeater and two meetings held via zoom. This has resulted in 300 total callings from 50 individual amateurs.

Moving forward, from myself and on behalf of our volunteers I wish you and all your radio amateurs all the best and add “Well Done” for your compassion towards emotional health and wellbeing.
