Regular GB2RS newsreader Reg Woolley, G8VHI is looking for an additional newsreader to help when he is unavailable due to his work shift pattern. His newsreading covers the Midlands area and he uses both 2m and 70cm. If you are interested, please drop an email to gb2rs@rsgb.org.uk.

Burton Amateur Radio Club has an open net on 145.575MHz this Sunday and next Sunday at 10am, and also on Thursday at 8pm. Wednesday sees their club night. Contact Rob, G6EIH on 0781 214 6333.

South Birmingham Radio Society is checking equipment in the shack on Monday, and on Tuesday they host an open coffee morning in the shack from 11am. Gloucester Amateur Radio and Electronics Society holds a talk on Monday Amateur Radio on a Budget, by Sean Pearce, 2E0SFQ. On Wednesday it’s their regular club net from 7.30pm on 145.475MHz FM. Welland Valley Amateur Radio Society will be operating a special event station, GB6FWW, from 1 to 28 October at Mail Street, Great Bowden. On Monday it has an open net on 145.275MHz. Enquiries to Peter, G4XEX on 01858 432 105.

Rugby Amateur Transmitting Society has a radio operation and projects session on Tuesday, including taking part in the 144MHz UK Activity Contest plus CW practice and training. Saturday sees the shack on the air, and a discussion on antennas. Next Sunday, from 2 to 4pm, there will be hut maintenance, and the club’s management is holding a committee meeting.
