GB3NY in East Yorkshire, on channel RU67, is changing its CTCSS tone to 67Hz, Tone A, today, 20 November. The usual tone for the area is 88.5Hz (Tone E). The enhanced conditions across the North Sea over the weekend of 12 and 13 November caused the GB3NY repeater in East Yorkshire to ring round with the Dutch repeater PI2VL in Vlissingen, making the use of GB3NY and probably PI2VL difficult. This happened because the output and input frequencies of PI2VL are the reverse of GB3NY and the CTCSS tone is the same, 88.5Hz. To prevent further occurrences, the ETCC has promptly approved a change to GB3NY’s Notice of Variation that allows the use of Tone A. Any queries should be addressed to the East Yorkshire Repeater Group via clive@hesh.co.uk.
