News for England North – 22 March 2020

As mentioned in the Main News, many clubs have notified us that they are suspending meetings due to the Covid-19 outbreak. As the government advice is to refrain from social gatherings, we have only included the details of regular nets as well as those newly created in place of club meetings. Several clubs have suggested keeping an ear on your local repeater to chat with anyone who is self-isolating or just wanting a chat.

Ripon and District ARS has suspending its normal Thursday meetings and all face to face training until further notice. The RADARS rally planned for the 12th of April has also been postponed until further notice.

Wrexham Amateur Radio Society has cancelled all meetings with immediate effect. For details, email wrexham.ars@gmail.com

Sheffield & District Wireless Society has suspended all meetings and hopes to resume in September.

Chorley & District Amateur Radio Society is closed until further notice. More details will be announced by the club when available.

Keighley Amateur Radio Society has cancelled its meetings for at least the next two weeks. Details from Geoff Priestley, G7JZM, on 0777 489 1641.

Wolverhampton ARS will replace all planned Wednesday meetings with a net on or around 145.350MHz FM from 8pm until further notice. For further details email chairman@wolverhaptonars.co.uk

Halifax & District ARS has cancelled all meetings until further notice. The open net on Wednesday will continue from 7pm on GB3HD and on Thursday there is a joint net with RAFARS on 145.350MHz from 7pm. Contact Martin, M0GQB, on 01422 341 317.

South Manchester Radio Club has suspended its normal meetings until further notice. The Thursday meetings will be replaced by an FM net close to 145.500MHz. All other nets will continue as normal, including Sundays from 10.30am on 3667kHz, and Tuesday from 8pm around 145.475MHz. Details from Ron, G3SVW, on 01619 693 999.

Central Lancs Amateur Radio Club has its club net on 1.940MHz LSB from 11am today and next Sunday. Contact Peter, G3UCA, via email to g3uca@blueyonder.co.uk

Wakefield & District Radio Society runs the 2E0IPC Memorial Open Net on 144.600MHz FM today and every Sunday from 10.15am, just after the local 2m GB2RS News broadcast. The normal club meetings on Fridays are suspended until further notice. Details from Charles, M0OXO, on 0790 050 0775.

Southport & District Amateur Radio Club has its net today and next Sunday from 7.30pm, commencing on 145.500MHz then moving to a clear frequency. Contact Brian Woods, M0SSN, on 0777 169 5525.

Stockport Radio Society has a net from 7.30pm on 145.375MHz on Wednesday. Contact Heather Stanley, M6HNS, on 0750 690 4422.

Mid Cheshire Amateur Radio Society will be closed for the foreseeable future. Club nets continue on several Northwich repeaters to keep members in touch throughout these rapidly changing times.
