News for England North – 19 January 2020

We start with a reminder that all UK amateurs are required to revalidate their licence with Ofcom at least every five years. If it has been a while since you did that, go to ofcom.org.uk/manage-your-licence or email spectrum.licensing@ofcom.org.uk. The process doesn’t take very long.

Now for clubs that have more than one event this week.

South Manchester Radio and Computer Club has a net this Sunday and next Sunday from 10.30am on 3,637kHz SSB. On Tuesday there’s a net from 8pm around 145.475MHz and Thursday sees a talk The Developments in the Radio Control of Models by Geoff Garside. Details from Ron, G3SVW, on 01619 693 999.

Wakefield and District Radio Society runs the 2E0IPC Memorial Open Net on 144.600MHz FM this Sunday and every Sunday from 10.15am, just after the local 2m GB2RS News broadcast. Details from Charles, M0OXO, on 0790 050 0775.

Stockport Radio Society has a C4FM Fusion net on Monday from 7.30pm on 144.725MHz. On Tuesday there’s a Morse class and radio night. Next Saturday and Sunday see the Foundation course parts one and two. Contact Heather, M6HNS, on 0750 690 4422.

Wirral Amateur Radio Society has their construction competition and an equipment sale on Tuesday. Wednesday is a film night plus more on the construction competition, and on Thursday it’s the regular ATV on-air and construction evening. Details from Bill Davies, G4YWD, on 0780 488 4245.

Halifax and District ARS meets at the Church of the Good Shepherd, Mytholmroyd, from 7pm on Tuesday. On Wednesday there is an open net on GB3HD from 7pm and on Thursday there is a joint net with RAFARS on 145.350MHz from 7pm. Contact Martin, M0GQB, on 01422 341 317.
