News for England North – 26 August 2018

We start with news from clubs that have several events this week. Today, Oldham Radio Club has its C4FM net, FCS004-55, from 9.30am, and on Wednesday there’s a 2m FM net from 8pm. Thursday sees a construction group and Intermediate course, and next Sunday it’s their D-Star Net on REF 14B from 9.30am. Contact Mike, M1CVL, on 0740 276 3203.

Warrington Amateur Radio Club is holding its regular solder Sunday & operating afternoon today. On Tuesday evening there’ll be a presentation or operating and technical help. Thursday sees their coffee morning and more operating. Details from Jeff, G1DYN, via email to secretary@warc.org.uk.

Thornton Cleveleys Amateur Radio Society is closed on Bank Holiday Monday. Next Saturday and Sunday they’ll be competing in the SSB / 2m Trophy. More from John E Rodway, G4FRK, on 01253 862 810.

Halifax & District Amateur Radio Society is operating on digital modes on Tuesday. On Wednesday it’s the club net on GB3HD from 7.30pm, and Thursday sees a joint net with RAFARS on 145.350MHz from 7pm. Stockport Radio Society holds a skills night on Tuesday and on Wednesday there’s a 2m net on 145.375MHz FM from 7.30pm. Enquiries to Heather, M6HNS, on 0750 690 4422.

Wirral Amateur Radio Society is having a natter night on Tuesday from 7pm, when the Foundation course also continues. On Wednesday there’s SSB Field Day planning and preparation from 7pm. Thursday sees G3NWR on the air for ATV; call in on 144.750MHz FM to arrange contacts. On Friday it’s the SSB Field Day setup from 5pm, and next Saturday and Sunday is SSB Field Day weekend itself.
