News for England South-West – 22 March 2020

As mentioned in the Main News, many clubs have notified us that they are suspending meetings due to the Covid-19 outbreak. As the government advice is to refrain from social gatherings, we have only included the details of regular nets as well as those newly created in place of club meetings. Several clubs have suggested keeping an ear on your local repeater to chat with anyone who is self-isolating or just wanting a chat.

Callington Amateur Radio Society is cancelling all forthcoming meetings and the rally planned for next Sunday, the 29th. For more info contact Steve, G7HEP, on 01566 773154.

South Bristol ARC has taken the decision to suspend all club meetings, training sessions and visits with immediate effect and will reschedule once we know when a safe restart date can be set. Fortunately, amateur radio cannot be stopped by the virus, we can participate from home.

Torbay Amateur Radio Society has nets at 9.30am on 20m and from noon on 2m today and next Sunday. There’s an 80m net from 10.30am on Monday, followed by Top Band at 8pm. On Wednesday there’s a 20m net at 9.30am and on 80m from 10.30am. Friday sees a club net on 80m at 9.15pm. Saturday’s net is from 10am on 80m. Details from Kerry Knight, M0KRE, on 0772 599 9973.

Bristol RSGB Group has cancelled its meeting planned for the 30th.
