RSGB elections – unopposed nominations

Unopposed Regional Representative nominations

In this year’s Regional elections there were three vacancies in Regions 2, 7 and 9. In Regions 2 and 9 a single nomination was received so that candidate is elected unopposed and will be invited to take up their role at the end of the AGM.

In Region 7 no nomination was received.

Committed to finding new ways to attract new entrants to the hobby and to support their development and progress to obtaining their licence(s). The “traditional” route of a SWL studying at a local club to obtain their licence has passed. The majority of licenced amateurs probably weren’t ever club members but strong active Clubs are needed. However, additional ways to engage i.e. on-line and through Men’s Sheds, U3A need to be adopted.

Potential amateurs cannot be expected to immediately study for a licence; a pathway and learning resources to develop their interest needs to be developed and made available to individuals and clubs via the RSGB Website.
