Special Events News – 15 June 2014
Several local club members will be running a special event station from Thurnham Castle in Kent today, 15 June, using the callsign GB4TCK.
Crawley ARC will be activating a station from the Gatwick Aviation Museum on 15th, 21st and 22nd June using the 10 to 80m bands.
On 21 June, Chelmsford Amateur Radio Society will be operating GB1JSS to celebrate the Summer Solstice from Galleywood Common, Chelmsford, CM2 8TR. There will be stations on HF, 50MHz and 144MHz as well as an amateur satellite station and a Top Band station using a kite antenna. All radio amateurs and listeners are welcome to attend.
South Tyne Amateur Radio Society is operating GB4SRF on 21 and 22 June from Segedunum Roman Fort in Wallsend. Operation will be on all HF bands as well as 6m, 2m and 70cm. Details on QRZ.COM.
South East Northumberland ARC is putting MX0HML on the air on 21 June from Memorial Hall, St Michaels Avenue, New Hartley, Northumberland, NE12 8QG from 11am in conjunction with a fete to promote amateur radio in the area. Operation will be on all HF bands as well as 2m and 70cm. The RSGB Deputy Regional Manager for the area will be attendance to answer any questions.
Cray Valley Radio Society will be operating GB2CM from Crossness Museum in Abbey Wood, London SE2 9AQ on 22 June. Operation will be on HF and 2m. A display about amateur radio will be a feature of the station with members on hand to explain the hobby.
Nuneaton and District Amateur Radio Club will be operating from The Chilvers Coton Heritage Centre in Nuneaton on 21 June under the callsign GB4CCH. Planned operation will be on 2m FM and 40m SSB on or around 7.143MHz.
West Manchester Radio Club are running GB0PIT from the Astley Green Colliery Museum, Higher Green Lane, Tyldesley, M29 7JB on 22 June from 1.30pm to 5pm. Operating is planned on the 10, 15, 20, 40 and 2m bands.
