What else happened at Convention 2025?

As well as an action-packed programme with over 50 presentations and three workshops to enjoy, there were a host of other activities attendees could take part in.

Two activities to choose from at the RSGB National Radio Centre

Visitors were able to choose between a private tour of Bletchley Park and an informal talk with RSGB National Radio Centre (NRC) volunteer Patrick, 2E0IFB on getting started using low earth orbiting satellites.

Welcome desk for first-time or solo attendees

This year we introduced a welcome desk primarily for first-time or solo attendees to make the event as friendly as possible.

Gala Dinner / After-dinner speaker

The popular RSGB Convention Gala Dinner took place on the Saturday evening. The formal three-course dinner included wine, coffee and an after-dinner speech by Hans Summers, G0UPL from QRP Labs.

AMSAT-UK Colloquium

AMSAT-UK once again hosted its annual colloquium during the RSGB Convention weekend. The keynote speaker was Patrick Wood, 2E0IFB BEng CEng FIET FRAeS, Visiting Professor, Cranfield University.

Special Interest Groups

One of the most interesting aspects of the Convention is the selection of Special Interest Groups that attend. We spoke to most of them during the weekend and shared those interviews on our livestream.

Drop-in sessions and forums

Brian Coleman, G4NNS and Heather Nickalls, M0HMO hosted a drop-in session on the UK Meteor beacon GB3MBA. The main VHF and HF contest forms and trophy presentations were also held.

Convention livestream

The livestream gave viewers a taste of the variety of presentations on offer. It also included bonus material such as Convention chats on current amateur radio topics, informal interviews with RSGB representatives and a chance to find out more about the Special Interest Groups that attended the Convention.
