Do you have an idea for Centenary day?

Do you have a good piece of homebrew construction or a tried and tested idea for engaging the public’s attention? If so, the RSGB would like to hear from you. As part of the Centenary Day displays, the RSGB is looking to exhibit a range of home construction projects and other ideas that will engage both RSGB members and members of the public who visit Bletchley Park on 5 July. Send an email to graham.coomber@rsgb.org.uk with your details.

Father and daughter fundraising team

On 8 June, eight year old Lauren Richardson, accompanied by her dad Kevin, G0PEK, started to kayak 225 miles down the River Thames, raising money for Widehorizons Outdoor Education charity. Having stopped off at Chertsey and visited Martin Lynch & Sons, Yaesu UK presented the pair with a Yaesu handheld ready for the tidal stretch of the journey. They will be carrying two transmitters, one for the 2m voice comms and the other for APRS, which will plot their position along the Thames via the internet. They will be traceable at www.aprs.fi.
