Meet international member – Ian, W6TCP
Meet Ian, W6TCP (USA)
How long have you been licensed?
Since 1981 in the UK (as G4YUZ) and since 2001 in the USA, where I have been living since 1999.
And how long have you been a member of the RSGB?
I joined the RSGB in 1978 when I was a SWL.
What would you say is the best thing about RSGB membership?
The RSGB has been a part of my radio journey since the beginning and it’s important for me to support the RSGB even though I now live in the US. I enjoy reading RadCom and keeping up to date with the goings on. The technical articles are interesting as well as the other regular sections of RadCom.
What would you say to someone considering whether to join the RSGB?
I did – I told NA6O about the RSGB and gave him a few RadComs to read and he joined!
Which is your favourite mode or band?
I have always been interested in VHF/UHF weak signal modes, not so much HF/DXing (but I do have 312 countries worked/confirmed). EME/Moonbounce is what I am interested in mostly.
