Meet international member – Bjørn, LB7EJ
Meet Bjørn, LB7EJ (Norway)
How long have you been licensed?
I got my amateur radio licence in March 2023, but my radio interest goes back to the early 1980s when I was an avid SWL in my teens.
And how long have you been a member of the RSGB?
I joined the RSGB in the summer of 2023. I think it is important to support the societies that do a very important job for us ham radio operators.
What would you say is the best thing about RSGB membership?
For me the best thing about the RSGB membership is the publications.
Have you used the RSGB app to view RadCom and its sister publications?
I am using the RSGB app and I like it, but I do appreciate the paper copy and I am happy to pay a bit extra for getting the paper issue sent to Norway. The app is super for going back in time and for searching.
What would you say to someone considering whether to join the RSGB?
I would say that is totally worth the money, and it is a fantastic resource for learning more about the hobby.
Which is your favourite mode and band?
My favourite mode is SSB, and I really enjoy the 17m band. I prefer scanning the bands for weak stations, you never know what you will find on your next CQ call. The best experience so far was getting Falkland Islands on SSB – before it was reported on any of the clusters.
