RSGB Board – October 2024 key messages
Following its meeting in October, the RSGB Board has shared these key messages:
- Appointment of Youth Champions: Chris Aitken, MM0WIC was appointed as RSGB School Youth Champion and Rhys Williams M0WGY/AJ6XD as the University Youth Champion. Board welcomed them to their new roles and looked forward to receiving reports of their activities and initiatives
- Board noted the combination of the Hamfest, the Girl Guides ARISS Contact, the Convention and the UK to ZL centenary commemoration happening very closely together had put great pressure on the HQ staff involved. Board formally recorded its thanks to the staff involved for their work in delivering these important projects
- Although it was meeting on the eve of the Convention, Board received an indication of likely attendance. There was every indication of another very successful event and Board recorded its thanks to the considerable number of people – HQ staff and volunteers – who had and would be working hard to deliver another Convention
- Board reaffirmed its view that Russian and Belarus amateurs should not be allowed to enter RSGB contests. Some other organisations were changing their positions and Board requested a review of the policy to ensure the RSGB’s stance takes into account the up-to-date world situation, the position of other amateur radio and non-amateur radio bodies, as well as views of relevant committees and the RSGB membership
