RSGB Board – January 2024 meeting key messages
Following its meeting in January 2024, the RSGB Board has shared these key messages from that meeting:
- Board noted that 2,232 candidates had taken exams in 2023: 1,500 at Foundation, 416 at Intermediate, 289 at Full and 27 at Direct-to-Full level. The Society also issued 78 Foundation candidate numbers for successful cadet exam passes. The number of candidates had grown significantly for January and February 2024 – there was no obvious reason for this but it was welcomed
- The Board introduced a RSGB challenge for British Science Week with a prize to be awarded to winning entries. The brief is: Using readily available components, material or other resources, provide a method of either measuring the frequency of a radio frequency source or signal, or providing a time reference to a radio operator or radio system
- The accounts to December 2023 continued to show that the level of deficit was less than as budgeted for, as expected. The date for the audit has been set
- Electronic RadCom: technical aspects were largely completed but further work was required to test the service and its interaction with the CRM
