RSGB Board – Nov meeting key messages
Following its meeting in November, the RSGB Board has shared these key messages from that meeting:
- Board supported a proposal from the Operating Awards Manager for awards to be again made available to SWLs. Some would be existing awards and others new awards and they would be supported by eQSL confirmation or by conventional means
- The 2024 budget was in the course of preparation. Board re-iterated its objective to be at the point of breakeven/slight profit by the end of the 2025 financial year. So far in 2023 each month’s figures had shown a loss less than that budgeted for – so the direction of travel was right. The final draft budget would be available at the December Board
- The AGM will be held on 13 April. As in recent years it will be a virtual AGM both for reasons of cost and to facilitate member involvement. Work was underway to try to develop the way in which members could ask questions of the Board during the AGM
- Board supported proposals from Ben Lloyd, GW4BML to improve the youth activities – and in particular to create new youth champion roles to support new and existing activities
- The decision of the Radio Communications Fund to finance 60 Foundation exam fees was welcomed as a way to remove a barrier to taking the exam for some candidates
- Following a suggestion from a member, Board decided to use paper wrappers for RadCom in future. This would be both cheaper and more readily recyclable than the current compostable wrappers
