RESOLVED – RSGB email server issue
UPDATE – 16:57 22/04/2022
The work to replace a key item of network infrastructure at RSGB HQ has now completed, and email services are fully available as normal.
If you sent email to an RSGB email address during the outage you are only advised to resend emails if you did not receive a reply as expected or got an undeliverable notification from your email service provider.
Our apologies to all external users of the RSGB email service for any inconvenience.
The issue was caused by a sudden and unforeseen failure of an item of key networking infrastructure that required a replacement unit to be transported to RSGB HQ and installed.
UPDATE – 16:00 22/04/2022
Email services should be starting to return to normal now, as our technical team complete the installation of a replacement item of key network infrastructure to replace a unit that failed yesterday afternoon causing significant disruption to our IT services.
Please be aware that further email downtime or outages may occur as work continues this afternoon.
We will update this post again as soon as the work has completed and we can confirm the situation has stabilized.
UPDATE – 13:05 22/04/2022
Our technical team are still working on the networking issue at RSGB HQ, but unfortunately have not yet been able to restore email service.
An additional engineer is en route to investigate the issue further, and we will update this post as soon as we know more.
UPDATE – 10:29 22/04/2022
Our technical team have now identified a potential critical networking issue which may be effecting the connectivity of our Exchange server.
We are now conducting tests to establish the precise nature of the fault, and to devise a solution.

UPDATE – 08:56 22/04/2022
Our technical team are still working on the issue with the RSGB email system but unfortunately most services are still unavailable right now.
However, if you are an Office 365 user, you will be able to send and receive mail to and from other RSGB email addresseses, but the system is still not routing external email thru to RSGB mailboxes. You can send mail to external email addresses as normal.

We are currently experiencing a technical issue with a server that handles our email service.
This unfortunately means that we are currently unable to send or receive emails right now.
If you are an RSGB email user and have migrated to Office 365 user you will be able to send mail but won’t be able to receive any mail for the moment, as incoming mail still routes through this server.
If you have not migrated yet, you won’t be able to either send or receive mail for the moment.
Our support team are currently working on the issue, and we will keep this post updated with all the latest developments.
