Ofcom EMF consultation deadline

We want to remind you that the deadline for response to the Ofcom EMF consultation (now 12 June) is approaching. Ofcom has published its FAQs which may help explain what this means. The updated ICNIRP 2020 guidelines are also now published and supersede the 1998 guidelines.

Our special EMF web page has links to the briefing paper and other information that will help you to understand and make your own response before the deadline if you wish.

The RSGB will be responding on behalf of all amateurs, stressing that while we appreciate the need for ICNIRP guidelines we feel that the proposals from Ofcom are not proportionate for amateur licensees. They may be appropriate for 5G but the one-size-fits-all approach may be too onerous for other users like radio amateurs.

We are also preparing training and advice leaflets to help you follow ICNIRP guidelines and any specific requirements which Ofcom may impose in the licence conditions after this consultation.
