News for England Midlands – 2 October 2016

We start with news from clubs that have several events this week. Worksop Amateur Radio Society continues its Intermediate course tonight. On Tuesday there’s a club night and the UK Activity Contest. On Thursday there’s a technical night with construction, Morse training, radio operation and data modes. Next Friday to Sunday sees the club at the RSGB Convention. Coventry Amateur Radio Society has its open net on Monday from 8pm on 145.375MHz FM and/or 7.16MHz ± QRM. On Thursday there’s an open net from 8pm on 50.175MHz SSB and Friday sees a talk on Inordinatus. Contact John, G8SEQ, on 07958 777 363.

Gloucester Amateur Radio and Electronics Society is having a talk on Monday on the history of hi-fi by David Briggs. On Wednesday there’s the club net from, 7.30pm, initially on 145.500 then moving to 145.550MHz or the nearest clear channel. Thursday also sees a net from 7.30pm, commencing on 145.550MHz. South Birmingham Radio Society has work in the shack on Monday. Tuesday sees the regular coffee morning in the shack from 11am to 1pm. Lincoln Short Wave Club is taking part in the 144MHz UK Club Contest on Tuesday. Wednesday sees shack activities and G5FZ on the air.
