WRC-15 – Day-14

| November 20, 2015

ITU WRC-15Progress seems to be getting slower and slower…

Agenda Item 1.12 (10 GHz): Discussions grind on with political issues continuing, which do not affect our allocations at 10 GHz. This could result in a No Change (NOC) situation in this frequency band and could be considered a success should this occur.

Future Agenda Items:
These continue to be discussed in Working Group 6B, but we hope to get a decision regarding the amateur service proposal for harmonisation at 50-54 MHz very soon.

Other future agenda items could present threats to the amateur services with IMT (5G) identifying the globally harmonised 47 GHz Primary amateur band as a possible segment for studies, while proponents of RLANS (Wireless Access Systems) have proposed studying most of the 5 GHz band. There could be a lot of amateur service spectrum to defend if these proposals are accepted for the WRC-19 Agenda. The IARU team watch and listen with avid interest.
