Contest News – 26 April 2015

The 24 hours of the SP DX RTTY Contest ends today at 1200UTC Sunday, the 26th. Non-SP stations can work anyone and there are multiples for DXCC entities and continents worked. The exchange is signal report and serial number with SP stations sending their Province code.

The BARTG Sprint 75 runs for four hours this Sunday, the 26th, from 1700 to 2100UTC. All activity is on 75 baud RTTY. The contest exchange is a serial number only.

On Tuesday the 50MHz UK Activity Contest takes place from 1900 to 2130UTC. Using all modes, the exchange is the usual signal report, serial number and locator.

Also on Tuesday is the SHF UK Activity Contest, again taking place from 1900 to 2130UTC. Using the 2.3GHz band and up, the exchange is signal report, serial number and locator.

Starting on Saturday, 2 May and ending on 2 August, the UK Six Metre Group’s Marathon is a contest without fixed operating times. The object of the exercise is to work as many locator squares as possible across three months of the sporadic-E season. Entrants can upload their logs repeatedly during the marathon, to update the online league table. Using all modes on the 50MHz band the exchange is your four character locator.

The Italian National Society ARI International DX Contest runs for 24 hours from midday on Saturday 2nd. This event is unusual in that there are sections for single-op CW, SSB, RTTY, mixed, and multi-single. For non-Italians the exchange is a signal report plus serial number, but Italians give a signal report and a two letter province code, and there are 110 to collect. There are no points for working your own country but one point for working your own continent, three for other continents and 10 points for working Italy. There are no single band entries and only one power category—high! Multipliers are DXCC entities—except I and IS0—plus Italian provinces.

The UK Microwave Group’s Low Band Contest is on Sunday 3rd. It coincides with the RSGB events taking place the same weekend. The 432MHz to 248GHz Trophy takes place from 1400 to 1400UTC. The 432MHz Trophy runs from 1400 to 2200UTC and, finally, the 10GHz Trophy runs from 1400 to 2200UTC. The exchange is the same for all contests, signal report, serial number and locator.
