HE200GE commemorates the 200th anniversary of Geneva’s entrance into the Swiss Confederation. The beginnings of modern Switzerland go back to the year 1291, when the three German language Alpine forest areas signed the Federal Charter. Over the centuries more cantons allied themselves to the original three and among the last was the Republic of Geneva on 19th May 1815.
