Special Events News – 22 June 2014
Today, 22 June, Stockton and District ARG are putting GX4XXG/P on the air from Hartlepool Gun Battery from 10am till 4pm. They plan to work on the 40m, 20m, 17m, 15m and 2m bands.
Also today, Bromsgrove and District ARC are operating GB1AMB from 9am to 5pm for International Museums Weekend. Operating from part of the Avoncroft Museums site, the club will also be participating in WAB 50MHz Phone contest.
South Tyne Amateur Radio Society is operating GB4SRF today, from Segedunum Roman Fort in Walsend. Operation will be on all HF bands as well as 6m, 2m and 70cm. Details are on QRZ.com.
Cray Valley Radio Society will be operating GB2CM from Crossness Museum in Abbey Wood, London SE2 9AQ today. Operation will be on HF and 2m.
West Manchester Radio Club are running GB0PIT from the Astley Green Colliery Museum, Higher Green Lane, Tyldesley, M29 7JB today, 22 June, from 1.30pm to 5pm. Operations are planned on the 10, 15, 20, 40 and 2m bands.
Crawley ARC will be activating a station from the Gatwick Aviation Museum today, using the 10 to 80m bands.
Riviera ARC will be running GB8AFD on 28 and 29 June for National Armed Forces Day. The plan is, weather permitting, to run SSB on HF on the 28th and datamodes on HF on the 29th. They may also be active on 2m FM.
Causeway Coast and Glens ARC will be holding an on the air event from 1 to 7 July to help raise funds for a memorial or statue to commemorate Rifleman Robert Quigg, who won a Victoria Cross on 1 July 1916. They plan to use the 10m, 12m, 15m, 17m, 20m and 40m bands using phone and digimodes.
