Organising an SES

Guernsey SES station

Special Event Stations (SES) are popular around the world and a great source of fun for organisers and QSO chasers, but what is the best way to organise and run one of these events? We’re here to help you get your event off the ground.

For RSGB members and Affiliated Clubs, we have produced an online guide called the SES Cookbook, which offers stacks of practical guidance to help you deliver the best experience, for your visitors and the organisers.

The guide covers a wide range of topics, including how to apply for an SES call sign, and looks at all the stages of the planning process. It includes information about publicising your event to attract visitors and how to make a good number of contacts. It also has details on station design, including computer networking and logging, QSL options, operating style and much more.
