Outreach

Radio amateur in a library setting helping a boy to learn how to operate amateur radio

Delivering an outreach activity is a wonderful way to share your passion for amateur radio with new audiences. Your planned activity can be as big or as small as you like and for any age group.

You could supervise a family member making a QSO, run a practical session with a local school or Scout group, give a talk at your library or organise a community event in your local area.

We have a wide collection of resources and activity ideas to help you show people the magic of amateur radio. Some of these resources were developed as part of our involvement in national events such as British Science Week and National Coding Week.

We also have a guide to putting on practical events like a Buildathon or workshop for your local club.

If you’re interested in organising an event that is open to the public, perhaps with a Special Event Station (SES), then look at our detailed guidance to help you do that safely and successfully.

Inspired to deliver an outreach activity with young people? Take a look at our Youth web pages and see what great things other people are doing…

The RSGB Outreach team is involved a range of exciting projects that are focusing on encouraging young people to experience the fun of amateur radio. If you’d like to help with one of those projects, contact Board Director Ben Lloyd, GW4BML via gw4bml@rsgb.org.uk

We’ll be developing this section further over the coming months so look out for updates and even more ideas and resources!
