Bob Clinton, G0BUX

| August 21, 2025

It is with sadness that we have to report yet another great loss to the Amateur community and especially Raynet in the passing of Robert (Bob) Clinton G0BUX, one of Eastbourne & Wealden Raynet Group’s most valued members for nineteen years.
Bob was 89, and until very recently was still an active member, and remained an on-air presence both monitoring during events and joining our regular weekly check-ins as the most consistent contributor of all, until his illness stopped him only a few weeks ago.
Bob joined us when he was 70, and was a major contributor to the technical facilities and equipment that has been used by the Group, not only developing systems, particularly our portable and mobile APRS units, but donating them from his own pocket. He also trained those who took over the maintenance of the equipment from him. His expertise built both digipeaters and iGates for the Group and he set up his own to further assist the reach of the system. His technical expertise reached many areas and he produced a number of solutions and detailed papers to help forward the Group expertise.
Bob was an RSGB member and a regular contributor to the letters page of Radcom on many technical topics.
Bob was first licensed in 1961 as KN9EKJ, and then relicensed in 1971 as WB6OUO. He spent some time in the UK from 1976 as G5BUX and then G0BUX until he moved back to Missouri in 2001. He became W0BUX when there, and a member of ARES. He returned to the UK in 2006 and that’s when he continued his emergency volunteer role and joined Raynet. We will enormously miss his unique Missouri tones from deepest Mayfield, and his great erudition in all things technical. Our sincere condolences go to his wife Brenda and all of his family.

RIP Bob, 73s.
