DX News – 4 August 2013
Andrew, G7COD will be active with the callsign EA8/G7COD from Playa Del Cura, locator IL27DT, on the Island of Gran Canaria, IOTA AF-004, from 9 to 31 August. Operation will be on all bands including WARC frequencies from 30m to 6m using SSB and CW. Callers from QRP stations are particularly encouraged. Refer to QRZ.com for further activity details.
Tom, 9A2AA, Neno, 9A5N and Tibi, HA3HP plan to activate between 50 and 60 different islands in the EU-170 group until 11 August. Their main activity will concentrate on islands south-east from Kornati. They will have to sleep aboard but hope to be on the air from early morning until the late evening.
Members of Stockport Radio Society will be operating from the Isle of Coll, EU-008, until 10 August using the callsign GM8SRS/p. They will be operating from 10 to 80m using CW, SSB and datamodes. QSL via M1REK.
Ulf, DL3UB will be on holiday in the Faroe Islands until 9 August. Look for him as OY/DL3UB. He will concentrate on CW on the WARC bands.
Three Ukrainian amateurs will be active from Namibia during the first week of August. Callsigns will be V5/UX0HX, V5/UZ1HZ and V5/UT5UY. They will be active on all bands 80 to 10m, CW and SSB.
Jeff, W7JVN will be working at a Church Mission in Ghana for the next 16 months. He has been issued with the callsign 9G5AC and will operate 100W to a dipole on 20 and 15m SSB when time and conditions permit.
DL1AL is now active as 5A1AL from near Tripoli, Libya. His operation so far has been on 40, 30, 20 and 6 metres using CW. QSL via DL1AL.
