What will you discover at the RSGB National Radio Centre?

We aim to provide an enlightening and interactive experience for our visitors, whatever their age

Our knowledgeable volunteers will talk about radio technology, how it works and how you can get involved.

The RSGB National Radio Centre (NRC) looks deceptively small from the outside, but once inside you will discover it’s full of equipment, interactive displays and hands-on activities, as well as a short video presentation and GB3RS, our state-of-the-art radio station.

You can spend as much or as little time with us as you like.

You’re welcome to look round at your own pace.

Within the NRC you’ll discover

  • The history and development of wireless communication, and its importance at Bletchley Park

  • Why wireless technology is important in modern-day life

  • The basic concepts of radio communication and the electromagnetic spectrum

  • The need for Radio Frequency (RF) engineers and career opportunities in government and commercial settings

  • How to get started in amateur radio as a technical hobby

  • The role of the Radio Society of Great Britain

We’re proud to highlight the contribution to the war effort made by Voluntary Interceptors who were RSGB Members during WWII.

Family friendly

Whatever your age, you can have the opportunity to send your name in Morse Code and be given a Certificate of Achievement to take away with you.

Many of our NRC volunteers are STEM Ambassadors and we’re well placed to work with families, school groups and students to explain things clearly in an understandable way, appropriate to age.
