RSGB Accessibility Champion
Are you passionate about ensuring that amateur radio is inclusive and accessible to everyone?
The RSGB is looking for a proactive and knowledgeable volunteer to serve as its new Accessibility Champion. This important role will focus on ensuring that people with disabilities can fully participate and enjoy everything that amateur radio has to offer.
Purpose of the role
This position will play a vital role in championing and implementing inclusivity across all RSGB platforms and activities.
Key responsibilities
- Outreach: Engage with the amateur radio community to promote accessibility and share inspiring stories of individuals overcoming barriers
- Support and guidance: Serve as a point of contact for individuals seeking advice or support, signposting them to relevant resources such as RIABC, assistive technologies, or community groups
- Strategic input: Raise awareness of the challenges faced by individuals and how these can be overcome. Provide recommendations to the RSGB Board on how to improve accessibility across its programmes, publications, and events
- Collaboration: Work with RSGB committees, clubs, and external organisations to foster a more inclusive environment for all radio amateurs
Ideal candidate
We are looking for someone who:
- Has a strong understanding of accessibility issues, ideally with personal experience or professional expertise
- Is passionate about inclusion and equality within amateur radio
- Is well-organised, approachable, and confident in communicating across diverse audiences
- Can represent the RSGB at events and in discussions with stakeholders
