Two newly licensed STEAMettes

The STEAMettes club at St Peter-in-Thanet CE Junior School in Kent is pleased to report that it has two newly licensed members. Thanks to funding from the Radio Communication Foundation (RCF), Coco, M7QSM (age nine) and Laurence, M7LBP (age 11) now have their Foundation licences.
One of Coco’s first QSOs was using the Hilderstone Radio Society‘s secondary call sign G7HTI (Hilderstone Training and Instruction), with which she made contact with DK75DARC, a special event station celebrating 75 years of the German national society.
The duo plan to take part in the GR2HQ challenge on 12 July, as well as the YOTA contest on 19 July using the club’s new remote HF station. The station is dedicated to youth operators and is a free resource provided and managed by the Thanet Radio Infrastructure Group (TRIG).
