Sydney Hunt, G3YQ, June 2021

| July 15, 2021

Sydney Hunt, G3YQ, passed away at the age of 108. His callsign was issued in 1938 and he remained active on the air until 2020 (with, of course, an enforced break during WWII).

A lifelong radio amateur and electronics enthusiast, he built the first television in his home town of Grimsby and worked on RDF/radar in the RAF throughout WW2.

A more detailed obituary was published by the Grimsby Telegraph, lauding the town’s oldest inhabitant.

An earlier version of this post included an incorrect callsign; we apologise to all concerned.
